India – world of possibilities

Thursday, January 26, 2006

Republic day greetings !

Today is Republic day and is it my privilege to born in this great country. India is young democratic country and is in the process of transforming from ‘developing’ to ‘developed’ country. It is a great opportunity for all us to be there in this juncture because, we are part of this transformation. We can part of this transformation either as a bystander, just being away and watching it from the stands or by participating, actively playing role in this transformation, playing the game, being on the court. I invite you to play the game. Yes once we decide to play the game next questions arises is ‘which game?’ , Below are the list of games that one can pick up and start playing. These are picked up from the Business Today. Jan 15th 2006 issue. It is on of the best compilation of the current state and opportunities for India. So here is the list , Where you can participate and be in the cause of creating a new world. New India , India – world of possibilities.

Making India as economic superpower
To make India #1 FDI destination in the world
To make Indian companies to be among the worlds 10 largest
To make ‘Made in India’ preferred tag
To make Indian cities ‘World Class’
To secure our energy future
To ensure clean water to all
To make Indian Capital market to lead the country’s growth
To electrify all our villages
To provide brick and mortar housing to every Indian
To ensure healthcare for all
To eradicate poverty
To achieve universal quality education
To become a nation of innovators
To make India one of the world’s top five tourist destinations
To create a market out of India’s poor
To win a Nobel prize
To win a Olympic Gold
To make one in four Indian own a car
To raise per capita income of $250 a month
To bridge the digital divide
To empower poor farmers
To increase the number of women in our workforce
To beat the AIDS epidemic
To rid India of corruption

These are 25 areas where you can take a stand and create new world. I have taken on #13 achieve universal quality education along with my favorite to make ‘people to identify their potential’ . So go on take up on or two and play full. What I really liked about this list it is fully not NGO types ( I mean social service, I have great respect for social service that needs bigger heart!, but I'm more materialistic ), most of them are entrepreneurial (It is like adventure sports!! high Adeline game), once realized they make difference in your life and life of others. In just 10 years the mobile phones have made difference in our lives. It has created the possibility of communication almost affordable to all.

So once again happy Republic day and lets’ play the game to create New India, India – world of possibilities.
