I'm Sorry !

One of the basic emotions that all we go through is "Guilt".  Whenever we don't deliver on what we promised or when we did not keep the promise, or when have not produced the results that is expected from us, the immediate response after we say "I'm sorry!" is the experience of guilt.

For some of you the reason you get into the guilt mode may be different. But all of us get into the mode of feeling guilty. There may be various reasons for feeling and experiencing the guilt.  Today we are not looking at why we experience "guilt" and how to come out of it. Rather we will look into what to do next after get into guilt mode.

Consider you have promised a friend that you will join in his/her birthday party.  Unfortunately you forgot. Next day you remember and you are feeling guilty about it. Does feeling guilty and miserable compensate for not attending the party?, NO

You might say that you really wanted to go and that person means lot to you.

If you observe guilt is cover up for not being responsible. If you really wanted to go then you could have set – up a reminder.  Written on the wall or you could asked another friend to join you or remind you. In spite of all these as human beings we may still we might forget!

In that case rather being guilty, we can be responsible and communicate to the impacted person that he/she really matter to you and you could not make it. That's it.
